</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I pretty much stuck to one colour hats after the few stripy ones I did, that way I could churn more out and saved time on sewing in all the ends. I tried to vary them a little though with different patterns like moss stitch and ribbing.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So here's a photo of the little pile I sent off to innocent. I'm tempted to carry on knitting them for next years Big Knit!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I've found a bunch of knitting projects, for all for very different causes -<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/PreemiesUK/177082545655482?sk=info"><b>Preemies UK</b></a> - knitting clothes, blankets and all sorts of useful/comforting things for premature babies<br />
<a href="http://theknittingexperience.com/knitted_knockers_program/"><b>Knitted Knockers</b></a> - knitted prosthetics for mastectomy patients: sounds a little bizzare but they really do help and it's nice that the subject is being approached with humour<br />
<b><u><a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2011/jun/30/how-to-make-catnip-mouse">Battersea Dogs & Cats Home</a></u></b> - knitting Catnip mice for homeless cats<br />
<b><u><a href="http://www.innocentdrinks.co.uk/bigknit/">Innocence Smoothie Big Knit </a></u></b>- knitting wee hats for smoothies (you've most likely seen them in stores) to raise money for Age UK<br />
<br />
I decided to start off small so as not to be too disheartened (making small things means I can churn out a lot of them too) and knit a bunch of Catnip mice for Battersea - I used 4 contrasting colours of wool and knit the ears in the same colours but switching them round so each mouse had contrasting ears. I brought some more wool back with me last time I visited home (I have a monster stash that I'm bringing down to London a bag at a time) so I think I'll be a little more adventurous with the next lot...<br />
<br />

</span></span></div>Last week and friend of mine tweeted about the Innocence Smoothie Big Knit. This year they're looking to collect 650,000 knitted hats (those who can't knit can send back last years hats - they count too!) and for each bottle of smoothie wearing a hat that is sold they'll donate 25p of it to Age UK.<br />
I had set myself the goal of knitting 10 hats by the deadline of October 14th, but after knitting 4 this weekend I think I can probably set myself a higher goal, and so I'm going to aim for 40 hats - which would help them raise £10 (25p per hat)<br />
<br />
So here are the first few - The pom-poms are pretty big, I know, but I'm using a plastic pom pom template I had, rather than cutting out a whole load of them from card, and this is the smallest it allows me to make them, but I still think they're kinda cute. I stuck with the intermediate pattern for now, but I think this week I'll give the advanced pattern a go (It involves ears flaps, but is still pretty basic)...<br />
<br />

</span></span></div>It's worth checking out the website, they have a hat of the week too - people do some pretty amazing stuff!<br />
<br />
Once the deadline has passed for the Innocence Hats, and I've knitted a small army of Mice, I'm going to buy some baby wool to knit some pieces for Preemies UK - starting with hats then moving on to *drum roll* cardigans! - need to learn how to knit a buttonhole :s<br />
<br />
In other news I finally finished sewing the bzillion ends into my jumper and knitted the neck!... and now I'm putting off sewing all the seams together and avoiding the inevitable - that it probably won't fit! ha!<br />
<br />

Twice!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> It's all been lovely though, and seems I have a year to prepare for the next one!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">In the meantime here are a few things I did for the two weddings I went to last month... First up my housemate Jo and her newly acquired husband Tom... Jo wanted a flyer to put in with her invites that contained all the info guests might need for the wedding - places to stay, dress code, whether confetti was allowed at the church etc - all the little questions people ask each other before the big day, answered on one piece of paper! She wanted it to look like a page out of a wedding magazine...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqw6TsKmyZkQHvbQXtCS0nTF8D14oM5jOrAiPnZP5mfU9agAetwd4rmBlIgQ44V6he4fMGZ3gMbXcicW1gaDmndSnVymSJbZ72w2QCEAIJ0-kPizWkFXcnIjwkY5QiM-EXsqRkl7i0FZY/s1600/flyer1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="341" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqw6TsKmyZkQHvbQXtCS0nTF8D14oM5jOrAiPnZP5mfU9agAetwd4rmBlIgQ44V6he4fMGZ3gMbXcicW1gaDmndSnVymSJbZ72w2QCEAIJ0-kPizWkFXcnIjwkY5QiM-EXsqRkl7i0FZY/s400/flyer1.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKwvq-rvJq3qT0noPzuGaaWATEr6yJLJAyAxDXZ73k1Q7fG4pwrADZ7zZ2ucjTsq3E534U6pFR-Ul9i_see0jKia-d8v_4ZfCtkgGBXdxmwUjRr7eXMI6Lv0cARzDr7FW-cVUXdB5Q_qw/s1600/flyer2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="255" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKwvq-rvJq3qT0noPzuGaaWATEr6yJLJAyAxDXZ73k1Q7fG4pwrADZ7zZ2ucjTsq3E534U6pFR-Ul9i_see0jKia-d8v_4ZfCtkgGBXdxmwUjRr7eXMI6Lv0cARzDr7FW-cVUXdB5Q_qw/s400/flyer2.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Next up was Marie and Chris' wedding. I've been friends with Marie since we've been about 4 so I was lucky enough to be asked to be a bridesmaid (for the first time!) and do lots of other bits for the wedding.<br />
<br />
The first thing on the list was the wedding invites - both daytime/ceremony and evening - unfortunately I didn't get any photos of the evening ones and the only daytime ones I have were taken on my phone.<br />
They wanted something really simple which tied in with the colour scheme. Marie bought pre-made cards then I added a strip of ribbon in blue (there was also a thinner white ribbon on top of this but the spray mount wouldn't hold them so I had to take them off annoyingly) and then their initials on the front with some diamantes - not usually a fan of diamantes but they just finished it off a little...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNqE4f08EhWeBhwLVtGYGngDQvM6JwoNXfS1_j85XrqfQw_9kNTZ_D-B-TFi2hv11NseF9y2rXacQVrdyv9opSEZlzA6ymQLC5Py9Is0gQsPJKS2McZs9i_SwEq1gC_oUxxLeICS8p4Bw/s1600/15032011055.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="316" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNqE4f08EhWeBhwLVtGYGngDQvM6JwoNXfS1_j85XrqfQw_9kNTZ_D-B-TFi2hv11NseF9y2rXacQVrdyv9opSEZlzA6ymQLC5Py9Is0gQsPJKS2McZs9i_SwEq1gC_oUxxLeICS8p4Bw/s400/15032011055.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The inside was lined with blue card to match the front and then the invite printed onto tracing paper, inexpensive but looks a bit more interesting than plain white paper. This was then attached with eyelets - the evening cards were similar to this but in the form of an A6 postcards with some thin ribbon tied through the eyelets with a bow...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFGwY9xTOD1XBpXFfRE7_UbIWPlFeJOo7CGexT66D-Fu6MOATESjp2RE00SnmoGqPfsK4IG_L_9MGedPAJIvNgv_ii4-MpO5wXvu6BwUjVt6aU2PFWcDVHfDg-efl-zW4tN_4-6zuKlGs/s1600/15032011058.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="296" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFGwY9xTOD1XBpXFfRE7_UbIWPlFeJOo7CGexT66D-Fu6MOATESjp2RE00SnmoGqPfsK4IG_L_9MGedPAJIvNgv_ii4-MpO5wXvu6BwUjVt6aU2PFWcDVHfDg-efl-zW4tN_4-6zuKlGs/s400/15032011058.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">These took a lot of time as all the blue card, printed elements and ribbon had to be cut out and arranged and then the eyelets for each invite had to be attached, and there were a lot of invites. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Chris and Marie were really pleased with them. It was a hard task as they wanted something very plain and simple so I couldn't get too carried away with any mad ideas but they were happy with them and that's all that matters!</div><br />
The next job for Chris and Marie's wedding - and just as time consuming as the invites - was the cake topper. For this job I didn't really have to refer back to the bride and groom much as I wanted it to be a surprise for them, the only input they had was mostly from Chris; requesting that he be wearing a Hawaiian shirt (which Marie knew about) and that Marie be stood on a yellow pages (which she didn't know about). So neither were allowed to see the topper before the wedding; Marie wasn't allowed to know about the yellow pages and Chris couldn't see what the dress was going to look like, so it meant they had to just leave me to get on with it!<br />
There were a lot of late nights spent on it after work so I didn't waste much time taking photos of the process and stupidly only took a finished photo on my phone, hopefully the photographer got a decent one...<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So all this wedding malarkey hasn't left much time for other crafty stuff, but since the weddings I've been catching up on knitting and as a result have finished all the pieces for my jumper! I'm now 3/4 of the way through the tedious task of sewing in all the loose ends - and there are a LOT - 2 for every time the colour changes, but once they're done it just needs sewn together and then the neck can be knitted! HURRAH! Not convinced that once finished it will fit though :s</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

Now that I have a bit of time I have a few little projects ready to start, as well as ongoing ones! but I want to do a separate post on those in the hope it'll force me to complete them... and make it look like i'm getting better at updating...Lynsey Grayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14311128703559285990noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6194181436796377693.post-81134256859230086282011-07-08T14:03:00.000+01:002011-07-08T14:03:52.363+01:00Just a quickie...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I created a few quick bird sketches for something I was doing this week, this was super fast but it kinda forced me to move away from the way I had been doing digital painting for the portraits and use a much rougher painting style, which as it turns out still kinda works, I left on the sketchy outline too, and overall I quite like it! It took about 20-30 mins max to do the bird, then I just dropped it onto a background and added a texture using a doily image I found...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Just been a busy bee recently!<br />
Still lot's of things on the go at the moment, and in the next few weeks I have 2 weddings to go to so will post all the stuff I'd been working on for those soon (invites and a cake topper!)<br />
<br />
Right now I'm working on another digital painting. It's been a while since I did<b> </b><a href="http://lynseygray.blogspot.com/2010/03/once-id-had-enough-of-faffing-on-with.html"><b>this</b></a> one and <a href="http://lynseygray.blogspot.com/2010/04/portrait-numero-deux-finito.html"><b>this</b></a> one, so I thought it was about time to give it another go.<br />
<br />
The drawing itself isn't great, it doesn't look exactly like the photo I used, but it's still good to practice the techniques. So to keep you entertained until I have something more interesting to post here's some progress shots...<br />
<br />
Sketching out the image and then adding block colour on a separate layer...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAO8CJNMgxqt_qp8RB3Kbj64Iuh0Ly4Oh3sF-XOTJQYqDqfCJf-_ftqoSsuxPzpWNk9-We21MSBV_tUmLLCrGp1OzaejAmNrd_CL7BEyvhgTj-Daw3o5w3c8irimwNH0gcT8aqR68nE90/s1600/1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAO8CJNMgxqt_qp8RB3Kbj64Iuh0Ly4Oh3sF-XOTJQYqDqfCJf-_ftqoSsuxPzpWNk9-We21MSBV_tUmLLCrGp1OzaejAmNrd_CL7BEyvhgTj-Daw3o5w3c8irimwNH0gcT8aqR68nE90/s400/1.png" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Defining the contours and other coloured areas like the lips and hair with rough colour...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8wFRmeUB0rW7-ksHPTpnx4zmOi4Bc3ga87KqqeHOwSdU2MzUMW7qpXZ_H6Q4A8EhEMx5d7vNIvykfCVIACnDo10NaqUOWk08dfFwOD8GZbIsHx_JRKSVH2XjZi9FwkZg4lggM6Zhg00M/s1600/2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8wFRmeUB0rW7-ksHPTpnx4zmOi4Bc3ga87KqqeHOwSdU2MzUMW7qpXZ_H6Q4A8EhEMx5d7vNIvykfCVIACnDo10NaqUOWk08dfFwOD8GZbIsHx_JRKSVH2XjZi9FwkZg4lggM6Zhg00M/s400/2.png" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Breaking down the shades on the nose...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUvUVYZhcvFgHJrCDBp9hZrKTR8SFNL24sEhEU1LZSyPi7PhEoZ3mYvw8SszOI_J23OmYKHFyL4qp-IxDdUwGEVZi8bmEnqMrzTOb4XtvRn_Cdc60YNBMpfd2ZQcDfVtHKixzydblRSec/s1600/3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUvUVYZhcvFgHJrCDBp9hZrKTR8SFNL24sEhEU1LZSyPi7PhEoZ3mYvw8SszOI_J23OmYKHFyL4qp-IxDdUwGEVZi8bmEnqMrzTOb4XtvRn_Cdc60YNBMpfd2ZQcDfVtHKixzydblRSec/s400/3.png" width="400" /></a></div><br />
And blending those colours...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3nhu7Dy1Lsi6wN_JYXZNOU52kWRiXZhJjn9e_lBWYjtvDyzzy2rO_Z1PMP2ZvYLbrj-pLEZvfibXWmCu0-3syzRnPCCVeIr4dhwfcaAN4sT8F5X7pnxOyfrLl9XGYAyjCHtoj0qK0HSg/s1600/4.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3nhu7Dy1Lsi6wN_JYXZNOU52kWRiXZhJjn9e_lBWYjtvDyzzy2rO_Z1PMP2ZvYLbrj-pLEZvfibXWmCu0-3syzRnPCCVeIr4dhwfcaAN4sT8F5X7pnxOyfrLl9XGYAyjCHtoj0qK0HSg/s400/4.png" width="400" /></a></div><br />
There's still loads to do and who knows when I'll get round to finishing it, but I'm enjoying giving it another go!Lynsey Grayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14311128703559285990noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6194181436796377693.post-31119745539732648572011-05-22T11:28:00.002+01:002011-05-22T11:37:00.704+01:00Quick catch-up...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Even though I've been MIA for a good few months the crafting has continued, although there was a little while where I just didn't have time to sit down and crack on with anything, but here are a few things I've been working on/ continuing with...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I started knitting a small chunky knit snood/face warmer for when I'm on the scooter so that I don't have to keep wearing a scarf. I used a full ball of wool but I'm yet to buy a second ball to finish it. I shouldn't take long though as it's just simple seed stitch and I just need to keep knitting it until I can fit it around my head then just sew the ends together...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiqQV_SH3TVfOcyKD2BeacwK7kvYLkKjGsOBhgBLgT3KQSmSWh1zSMBshbqsAxLb-3fcliLtagLLwhx0ghkRDBDT9yq6ru7ckJpue34zBKrPVPkLIp_5NBDR8p9wmii6n-UOrj8UUwKGQ/s1600/IMG_5081.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiqQV_SH3TVfOcyKD2BeacwK7kvYLkKjGsOBhgBLgT3KQSmSWh1zSMBshbqsAxLb-3fcliLtagLLwhx0ghkRDBDT9yq6ru7ckJpue34zBKrPVPkLIp_5NBDR8p9wmii6n-UOrj8UUwKGQ/s400/IMG_5081.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
I've still been working on my jumper! I finished the two sleeves and then started on the front piece which has a striped pattern. The pattern I'm following is pink and uses 4 different colours to create the stripes, but I decided to go for Navy and have used 3 colours instead...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrLcrLmrAtjr4IaZPphR44WgB6n5b5m5CUuEIPc9kQyqgJKOeUQiSAff_Q8CmorodrmreMxe8MZuJbu45uFcULHhTqNEnN0TX4cd3w8VMWEmT3m4Az3oYm1PwZic_Ob1MDH4PEhLNc6Ps/s1600/IMG_6578.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrLcrLmrAtjr4IaZPphR44WgB6n5b5m5CUuEIPc9kQyqgJKOeUQiSAff_Q8CmorodrmreMxe8MZuJbu45uFcULHhTqNEnN0TX4cd3w8VMWEmT3m4Az3oYm1PwZic_Ob1MDH4PEhLNc6Ps/s400/IMG_6578.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
I managed to finish the front piece about 2 weeks ago and so I've started on the back piece now, which is exactly the same as the front, then I need to attach them all, knit the neck on some circular needles and then sew all the seams! yey!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpSz6v0T4n_QdM-ICs3C_Vl6U2ZEfis9Xoj9RyTrX4auF-KAgKG8i_ow6ybOswmIvyNkZBgejdTPx_x50nt8e6fmHtQMioMMv_x16eUTIeq2mEcVAmIx1d2sON0bpepn7ykhD7EadOngo/s1600/IMG_6892.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpSz6v0T4n_QdM-ICs3C_Vl6U2ZEfis9Xoj9RyTrX4auF-KAgKG8i_ow6ybOswmIvyNkZBgejdTPx_x50nt8e6fmHtQMioMMv_x16eUTIeq2mEcVAmIx1d2sON0bpepn7ykhD7EadOngo/s400/IMG_6892.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
I've also been working on my Emily Peacock 'Hug' cushion, not as much as I'd have liked though...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCIdgfTqlTPDmuTl1KU6AK78gcIDAA732MVu9aSLH4fwJ2hNM3sFshZT_mTPCvLOAoBsi8pMkr8M2c3iFZ67TNgXft4HNdJQQ7OTmay6vI9Y7YT8RZJcvMgP9IY9mzpfBcqE9_pbL_N_E/s1600/IMG_6907.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCIdgfTqlTPDmuTl1KU6AK78gcIDAA732MVu9aSLH4fwJ2hNM3sFshZT_mTPCvLOAoBsi8pMkr8M2c3iFZ67TNgXft4HNdJQQ7OTmay6vI9Y7YT8RZJcvMgP9IY9mzpfBcqE9_pbL_N_E/s400/IMG_6907.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Another little project which was quite fun was a wedding present I put together back in February. The bride and groom weren't having a honeymoon so we decided to make them a honeymoon in a box. We managed to find the cutest suitcase from Liberty. I decorated the lid with Hawaii themed images and flowers, then we filled it with all sorts of fun things (chocolates, some beautiful Alessi champagne glasses, Champagne, vouchers, a wedding photo album, postcards, some flower garlands and of course some confetti!)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Over the Easter holiday I also managed to catch up with my zombie calendar (though I now have May to do!) so here's March...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

...and April...<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijZNcaSC0SjZpFSCBqbJc_cRltJ_mOpmgVv6YHrNL6KrOhedsgWc_KbxmQooF-hZi2Ux9CVCv8EjhJsrozi5Pepbtq_rcsCxaOP2klaKkqj3UkRCa4u7DhIpgQHhG5t6FAtfHM0LDVcrw/s1600/IMG_6115.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijZNcaSC0SjZpFSCBqbJc_cRltJ_mOpmgVv6YHrNL6KrOhedsgWc_KbxmQooF-hZi2Ux9CVCv8EjhJsrozi5Pepbtq_rcsCxaOP2klaKkqj3UkRCa4u7DhIpgQHhG5t6FAtfHM0LDVcrw/s400/IMG_6115.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><br />
To be fair, we didn't simply discover it, I'd heard about them last time I was in Berlin and found a <a href="http://www.photobooth.net/"><b>website</b></a> listing all their locations so that I could hunt them out this time, but we just happened to pass this one one morning and it was right round the corner from the Pictoplasma venue so we were able to make a few trips each day!<br />
<br />
...and so about 11 attempts later (1 or 2 failed to materialise) and a mere 22euro spent (2euro a go! bargain!) we had a whole bunch of ridiculous photos, all we need now is a frame to put them in...<br />
<br />

Work was pretty crazy for a little while so I didn't have the time/energy on an evening to do much in the way of creative work. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I've had some time off recently so have started to catch up a little so will update on various projects soon, but for now here's an incredibly brief and rushed post about Pictoplasma which I attended in Berlin at the beginning of April, I haven't included everything I saw because I saw SO MUCH, so here's a few highlights...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf800WaHb275W7LV2sC1dt1zNvxdtJhypdp1vuM0uetUTb4MJaoz-WWLbNl6GgFuz3oz-4JslN2NXwey4LNQHvPush4rJdqqmzhCmZ0bKUoEEsKxdyOi-YQvM7T7jfQxb7kAFG9SKQuN4/s1600/IMG_5565.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf800WaHb275W7LV2sC1dt1zNvxdtJhypdp1vuM0uetUTb4MJaoz-WWLbNl6GgFuz3oz-4JslN2NXwey4LNQHvPush4rJdqqmzhCmZ0bKUoEEsKxdyOi-YQvM7T7jfQxb7kAFG9SKQuN4/s400/IMG_5565.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Day one of the festival we showed up at 111, one of the 24 galleries that made up the character walk, and registered to pick up our wristbands for the festival. After pottering about for a bit and catching up with some folk from home who were also at the festival, a bunch of us set off to visit a further 21 galleries that same day! Luckily everything was pretty close together, and they were all close to the main venue so I was even able to nip back to a few of my favourites over the following days...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTcmeqy5e30Y_xLQRqPjgvSnpzvddXkpjN4FhJctCdN_TBoNwDIO_M0oPG6CBcM_ukGMKyxdr0cP_Siw8usLYIpu19hfKzvT9dlow2SklCv51uW94kvh1gnlyLdE02SRRbjrWSt7Wcyb8/s1600/IMG_6943.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTcmeqy5e30Y_xLQRqPjgvSnpzvddXkpjN4FhJctCdN_TBoNwDIO_M0oPG6CBcM_ukGMKyxdr0cP_Siw8usLYIpu19hfKzvT9dlow2SklCv51uW94kvh1gnlyLdE02SRRbjrWSt7Wcyb8/s400/IMG_6943.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Jeremyville wasn't one of my favourites, though I enjoyed his talk, I kinda like this photo though so I thought I'd throw it in...</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiClSrRB0Irde4kXS7PT_Jqg7VNy7J3nk1wGQk5FhfgHCyyw4hO50nAJwPI97Et-tghBzhj9C0fxJWnT-Fo4dTYOSupRE7eDFxZ8tRjQ-vI8K_WE4VJ3V-dplZ9ziajUQvf_okxQtL3O-4/s1600/IMG_5570.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiClSrRB0Irde4kXS7PT_Jqg7VNy7J3nk1wGQk5FhfgHCyyw4hO50nAJwPI97Et-tghBzhj9C0fxJWnT-Fo4dTYOSupRE7eDFxZ8tRjQ-vI8K_WE4VJ3V-dplZ9ziajUQvf_okxQtL3O-4/s400/IMG_5570.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
One of the absolute highlights of the whole character walk (for me anyway) was <a href="http://www.byrilla.com/"><b>Rilla Alexander</b></a><b> </b>and her character <b><a href="http://www.sozi.com/">Sozi</a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;">. Rilla has written a children's book based around Sozi and it's one of the cutest things I've ever seen. Her images are beautiful, (I'm still pining after the letterpress print I saw) the story is so sweet and the work is timeless. Rilla also did a talk at Pictoplasma and I found it very inspiring, she talked about how coming up with a character, a story and building on either of these takes time and not to expect to sit down and for the first idea to work... or for your best idea to work first time... "If you have doubt, keep working."</span></b><br />
<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;"><br />
</span></b><br />
<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;">Rilla's work was on display at BOLD gallery and I went back a handful of times to admire the work. There were a number of prints from the book, and a whole bunch of one off, hand-painted images that Rilla creates as part of <a href="http://www.sozi.com/my-life/31-i-lost-a-day-somewhere"><b>Sozi's blog</b></a> of what she's been up to. They weren't too expensive but, unsurprisingly, they were all snapped up pretty sharpish. However I did manage to nab myself two <a href="http://www.sozi.com/my-shop/38-idea-toy-red"><b>Ideas</b></a> (one for me and one for a friend) and one of</span> <a href="http://www.sozi.com/my-shop/57-sozi-figure-green">these</a> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;">which I fell in love with on first sight. The box is wrapped in a screen print of the same colour so I'm hoping to get framed...</span></b><br />
<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;"><br />
</span></b><br />
<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;">I really wish I could have stolen the life size Sozi that was sat on top of scrumpled up ideas reading through her ideas book...</span></b><br />
<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;"><br />
</span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8uCUfynLGFfyfMHpDpgeAMwbo3RZQntrhua6B2CDMSAsJgYhD4zX6OBR8oAmNeSBsD1bQ5qUyoF0hPYjj5ynSz0ZrnSskK0r6kSwj87gGaaEsERbo3odIGlB7Vc72yHyxMvXYHho2Wso/s1600/IMG_5588.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8uCUfynLGFfyfMHpDpgeAMwbo3RZQntrhua6B2CDMSAsJgYhD4zX6OBR8oAmNeSBsD1bQ5qUyoF0hPYjj5ynSz0ZrnSskK0r6kSwj87gGaaEsERbo3odIGlB7Vc72yHyxMvXYHho2Wso/s400/IMG_5588.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu0MqawoPxINXXln6-Sx43eIeamZbPvbKIZt7Hp1H5DC2jUxmf01U_4qt_Z9SI-2aZ7Ow7lERWGsp8zrxCgu__iVfTj2SgyWkcssBM01sks3rItCaSccuWAfr4-Y9ODlfNbXvPzhyphenhyphen-0Yc/s1600/IMG_5590.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu0MqawoPxINXXln6-Sx43eIeamZbPvbKIZt7Hp1H5DC2jUxmf01U_4qt_Z9SI-2aZ7Ow7lERWGsp8zrxCgu__iVfTj2SgyWkcssBM01sks3rItCaSccuWAfr4-Y9ODlfNbXvPzhyphenhyphen-0Yc/s400/IMG_5590.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><br />
Another favourite was the trip to the <a href="http://www.dudes-factory.com/"><b>Dudes Factory</b></a><b> </b>where <a href="http://www.blogger.com/goog_2004641909"><b>m</b></a><b><a href="http://mcbess.com/">cbess</a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;"> was sat with a bunch of posca markers drawing on a huge canvas on the wall (WIP photo below). I bought myself a pretty nifty tote with a mcbess design on it, but might have to purchase some of the tshirts online methinks...</span></b><br />
<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;"><br />
</span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhawr5OkE_qZ-6jB18YeqSsntqASXJr2p45VHt5xpUQpOYWYz0A_GNCZPA3azyRsHJTjdNkzRMMP-PfA-5_UGLogrDNiNFBPYI5PWTsAYn0P-xh8PtOYaTVy3LjvIILcs-P_frVJGXgOaI/s1600/IMG_5667.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhawr5OkE_qZ-6jB18YeqSsntqASXJr2p45VHt5xpUQpOYWYz0A_GNCZPA3azyRsHJTjdNkzRMMP-PfA-5_UGLogrDNiNFBPYI5PWTsAYn0P-xh8PtOYaTVy3LjvIILcs-P_frVJGXgOaI/s400/IMG_5667.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
At BERLIN-WEEKLY.COM <a href="http://www.tordal.no/"><b>3753% TORDAL</b></a><b> </b>had an exhibition of what appeared to be cardboard boxes, some of which had been customised. We soon discovered though that one of the boxes was moving, and every now and then what looked like the handles of the box flipped open and a little robot, Papp, peeked out. Further exploration of the tiniest gallery I have ever been in led to a workshop out back where you could assemble your own "Papp" box and decorate it...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMJJy98tUgxAG0V0K2fck0a1Lz335U-RoCzRiJjIgakqmYgsIs5XyUVdUs8Q3iqedJEoHfQNGqy51b46oiGpcNDsWFL9ZHhl9_vIPUdh3HStAjT964cC2c6RJbJ_lqID5AUyEbqRSa2so/s1600/IMG_5726.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMJJy98tUgxAG0V0K2fck0a1Lz335U-RoCzRiJjIgakqmYgsIs5XyUVdUs8Q3iqedJEoHfQNGqy51b46oiGpcNDsWFL9ZHhl9_vIPUdh3HStAjT964cC2c6RJbJ_lqID5AUyEbqRSa2so/s400/IMG_5726.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Here are just a few other bits I particularly enjoyed...<br />
<br />
Anna Hrachovec's knitted creations which were hung from the ceiling of a small gallery. They were covered in so much detail, but as they were rotating I struggled to get any good photos...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitPMhuxb1WPE5w5L0E3WWQEs516xX8R0WrCrawH05d8vnmFNFNFqM1wfKJTORWZBhsEBsI7iMRMVOfh_zWDsI2is3-zbFBn8OwgIoepsaDoikY-4HyzHVv1dTh_qJ1qh-E9LuEw4LrBNA/s1600/IMG_5751.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitPMhuxb1WPE5w5L0E3WWQEs516xX8R0WrCrawH05d8vnmFNFNFqM1wfKJTORWZBhsEBsI7iMRMVOfh_zWDsI2is3-zbFBn8OwgIoepsaDoikY-4HyzHVv1dTh_qJ1qh-E9LuEw4LrBNA/s400/IMG_5751.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjH7qTeB23ySS-Bn_XOTX6QuIouImoHJ39-ddZD3ITOYGEWYq8_lx8GvmvSUVJwEDxgxU6xiJpcJ7KaFVd8smSGdKZaK_KIT3Wm0g5vy-GnQXThnG0sF4MKSfO_n5gJD-E9Wuogs8jtd38/s1600/IMG_5762.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjH7qTeB23ySS-Bn_XOTX6QuIouImoHJ39-ddZD3ITOYGEWYq8_lx8GvmvSUVJwEDxgxU6xiJpcJ7KaFVd8smSGdKZaK_KIT3Wm0g5vy-GnQXThnG0sF4MKSfO_n5gJD-E9Wuogs8jtd38/s400/IMG_5762.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
One of my favourites, <a href="http://www.feltmistress.com/"><b>Felt Mistress</b></a><b>,</b> had created a felt totem for the Inky Goodness exhibition at the Neurotitan Gallery...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeF3qSQV6HKMitMdN2BJ_9-DaTuCrniQPJNvMA-CwYsrnX_9GOz3moVua75nrYvnCrENehYWj5kEBrrCm2uHwkeV7uF-eFI_RkU33cEAa2lEK89rFuo0tyQ0gMljhnUk2XLiEsL2xKiYc/s1600/IMG_5813.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeF3qSQV6HKMitMdN2BJ_9-DaTuCrniQPJNvMA-CwYsrnX_9GOz3moVua75nrYvnCrENehYWj5kEBrrCm2uHwkeV7uF-eFI_RkU33cEAa2lEK89rFuo0tyQ0gMljhnUk2XLiEsL2xKiYc/s400/IMG_5813.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><br />
Also featured at the Neurotitan Gallery was the work of <b><u><a href="http://www.ryanquincy.com/">Ryan Quincy</a>.</u><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;"> The exhibition was interesting and I liked his paintings, but I wasn't one of my highlights from the character walk...</span></b><br />
<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;"><br />
</span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV59t6GnVsCttgxaFhoycdsy0CjXULvYqcWlYhvPyDOZGIfjRTQy9Ga8c-i6eY_iGnEaaIwhjp9l4vrskYHj0iVlkT4TntQwFfwiJvJvct6kKET8txtslZzCoCoDgZkaxFGxRiRO42nFo/s1600/IMG_5833.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV59t6GnVsCttgxaFhoycdsy0CjXULvYqcWlYhvPyDOZGIfjRTQy9Ga8c-i6eY_iGnEaaIwhjp9l4vrskYHj0iVlkT4TntQwFfwiJvJvct6kKET8txtslZzCoCoDgZkaxFGxRiRO42nFo/s400/IMG_5833.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">...however, his talk was possibly one of the highlights of the whole festival. While waiting for the talk to start a guy in a character suit was on stage entertaining the crowd... this turned out to be Quincy who proceeded to do most of his talk in the suit!... it was pretty warm in there so eventually he had to remove the head. His talk was so interesting and the work he showed contained a lot of humour (much like himself). He showed us an episode of a series he'd created called "Out There" starring the character he was dressed as, which was awesome, unfortunately I can't find it to share as I think it's still a work in progess...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

It's a Toucan!<br />
I drew it roughly into Photoshop first and then using paths drew out the different areas and filled them with block colour. I don't really like using gradients on my images but the only other way to add the shading to the beak would be to use a lot of different layers of colour and I didn't want the image to be too detailed, so I felt the gradient worked well...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMmeIuO07XooFT1vDvwDg8yeXU39U03Vtz3uvEElkM9sUMr3-0aD7I8o7_59lZmYFai9S6PDLauDxFvPoinzWaLKy2_vo48ELgtFcJIJfRr5Yc8wDbJ-9PHVDJZUu0q4HFMqkBaBkTVcE/s1600/Toucan.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMmeIuO07XooFT1vDvwDg8yeXU39U03Vtz3uvEElkM9sUMr3-0aD7I8o7_59lZmYFai9S6PDLauDxFvPoinzWaLKy2_vo48ELgtFcJIJfRr5Yc8wDbJ-9PHVDJZUu0q4HFMqkBaBkTVcE/s400/Toucan.jpg" width="380" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I had originally planned to create all the animals in different media but I think now I might continue to create them all in Photoshop in the same style so that when they are all completed I can tile them all in one image.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This morning I made pancakes for breakfast! with the help of my assistant of course! I think we've finally managed to crack it; light fluffy pancakes which aren't burned on the outside and stodgy in the middle... we added a generous amount of cinnamon too so they were DE-LIC-IOUS!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

I didn't manage to make it on the first of the month, I actually did it on the 6th, but ho hum...</span></b><br />
<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;"><br />
</span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtV4GnwiifoSQwV_cCXFGUu16MvCMfig4b-uoe8JgGoaAX0vsXl_N4xYm7MGX_dC7BCwGoy3th7LQDI0qdd678UNMUMMyhA5YWS-8UVf2jnhsBvNMgH8ckzchLaQdoLwIioUhBBwf6az0/s1600/IMG_4972.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtV4GnwiifoSQwV_cCXFGUu16MvCMfig4b-uoe8JgGoaAX0vsXl_N4xYm7MGX_dC7BCwGoy3th7LQDI0qdd678UNMUMMyhA5YWS-8UVf2jnhsBvNMgH8ckzchLaQdoLwIioUhBBwf6az0/s400/IMG_4972.jpg" width="302" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Cross stitch progress is going rather slowly! and tonight I haven't managed to pick it up at all! One of the girls at work brought in her crafty-scrap book today and was nice enough to let me borrow it to bring home and take photos of some of the awesome clippings in it, so I've been busy doing that! Makes me want to buy a house and decorate it with awesome stuff though! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I recently decided that it's going to be my mission to scope out markets for small vintage deer figurines, the super cute kitsch type! Don't ask me why, I just like them...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Also at work today the lovely <b><a href="http://meggrogan.com/portfolio.html">Meg</a> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;">bought me a little blind packaged toy from Forbidden Planet! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Not the greatest photo because I took it on my phone...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Have been thinking about the 365 project some more too and thought it might be nice to start on my birthday (which is in March) as a way of documenting the year! </div>Lynsey Grayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14311128703559285990noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6194181436796377693.post-66179160054990238432011-02-07T13:39:00.000+00:002011-02-07T13:39:54.554+00:00Whoops...Ok, ok, ok! So I haven't managed to stick to my "two posts a week" rule this last fortnight, but work has been CRAZY busy! Honestly! So I haven't had the time or energy to finish things off/ start new things so I haven't had anything upload! So, shame on me *slaps on wrist*<br />
<br />
I finally had a weekend off this weekend so I decided to have a lazy weekend and try and get a few bits and pieces done... though I maybe did a quarter of the things off my "to do" list!<br />
<br />
I finally started my new cross stitch pattern!...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwHVc1DwBfmaYpsUXNzLLrTiEdzMIwD-UnXnfkjcRofKkocWLtCGAoBW7dsgcj9yrU7KSUHKmKTYwjH-f36ghrYM08RVZ9AUAROw4-7OO9K0plziog3BKadfqEORygZvZnXvM4zlRSNg4/s1600/IMG_4958.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwHVc1DwBfmaYpsUXNzLLrTiEdzMIwD-UnXnfkjcRofKkocWLtCGAoBW7dsgcj9yrU7KSUHKmKTYwjH-f36ghrYM08RVZ9AUAROw4-7OO9K0plziog3BKadfqEORygZvZnXvM4zlRSNg4/s400/IMG_4958.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I'm doing the 'Hug' cushion first, just cause there's less letters, although the 'Kiss' cushion works out pretty much the same size anyway. I'm going to do it a letter at a time rather than working all in one colour/doing all the line work then filling in etc. I thought completing small sections might make me feel like I'm making more progress!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEishTEhJ42nUY18yoEFLzhqRUsP3iJRqB4RI9ExyixqD21BF0_wzDQSnkJLzIrtlcR-lfY-k-Z4A7Lz7k8l3zIJaE1o3Z0WUM8vvqgvX7tl76Gx8bqPVeoQaXpV2Qqdk8cPu0tFh0xLG3M/s1600/IMG_4985.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEishTEhJ42nUY18yoEFLzhqRUsP3iJRqB4RI9ExyixqD21BF0_wzDQSnkJLzIrtlcR-lfY-k-Z4A7Lz7k8l3zIJaE1o3Z0WUM8vvqgvX7tl76Gx8bqPVeoQaXpV2Qqdk8cPu0tFh0xLG3M/s400/IMG_4985.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Oh and here is a photo of the Swallow cross stitch I was doing now that it's completely finished...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm-dXP8NEhlRvuZ-_uXZPA5T3lctdH6M0GPKTjtWC4T-HsEsNvBiKj2STFAYnWxW4RWU-Mws3-sQLodKsITfk9R4EF5U65vLjoSbv9PKUpdOPLkMRPh5UrnE0AikK9u04E3-L8hidIU2g/s1600/IMG_4965.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="323" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm-dXP8NEhlRvuZ-_uXZPA5T3lctdH6M0GPKTjtWC4T-HsEsNvBiKj2STFAYnWxW4RWU-Mws3-sQLodKsITfk9R4EF5U65vLjoSbv9PKUpdOPLkMRPh5UrnE0AikK9u04E3-L8hidIU2g/s400/IMG_4965.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I quite enjoyed doing this little one as it didn't take long. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Hopefully I'll manage to catch up on the animal alphabet I'm doing this week and make one or two using cross stitch and my own patterns. I now have 4 animals to do this month! eeek! BUT, I got my sewing machine this weekend! (HURRAH) so I might have to make a plushie animal or something using it so that I can figure out how it works!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This weekend I also managed to FINALLY sew the eyes onto the alligator mittens I made months ago! I'm still tempted to make another pair as (despite following the pattern) the inner mouth piece (red) was a lot wider than the green part so they look a bit weird 'cause it sticks out a bit. They could do with some teeth, this might make them look a bit better, but I have white wool back at home in Newcastle so I'm reluctant to go buy a ball when I only need to use such a small amount. For now they'll just have to look like snakes with massive gums...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu034Z5K9pEYgsz_juUk4i32e_Yjow8o5i6ifcTcmPrTuUJUtUwI4wr0erLIu9gTDX3ADrA2krNJQlJO89r63g-in8Q1K66hevyjDLTxLAmn3kcE-CvOtY6lojFVcuID8tntWEl8UasXo/s1600/IMG_4974.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="286" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu034Z5K9pEYgsz_juUk4i32e_Yjow8o5i6ifcTcmPrTuUJUtUwI4wr0erLIu9gTDX3ADrA2krNJQlJO89r63g-in8Q1K66hevyjDLTxLAmn3kcE-CvOtY6lojFVcuID8tntWEl8UasXo/s400/IMG_4974.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So hopefully this week I'll manage to cross a few things off the "To Do" list! I want to get at least 2 animals from the alphabet done (I've said this every week, I know), one of which will probably just be a drawing to make it a little easier, and I'm still yet to start on the next piece of my jumper!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I'm also toying with the idea of that 365 thing folk are doing on flickr. I thought I'd missed the boat what with it being February already, but after mentioning it to <a href="http://www.thecraftycurrant.com/"><b>The Crafty Currant</b></a> who also started it in February I figure why not. It might force me to use my camera a bit more. Though I'm wondering when I'll ever find time to take photos through the day or how I'll find something interesting to take, particularly on a weekday as by the time I leave work it's dark and there's not much at work that I can take photos of... We'll see...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Ok so now that I've managed to update on a Monday I should be able to keep up better and get back on track! If I want to make up for the lack of posts and catch up properly then I'll need to update 4 more times this week... hmmmm... I'd best get creating...</div>Lynsey Grayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14311128703559285990noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6194181436796377693.post-43202134679587395102011-01-27T13:35:00.000+00:002011-01-27T13:35:01.843+00:00Sew what...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Well every evening this week I've had all sorts of plans to tick stuff off my creative to do list; finish the second sleeve on my jumper, start on the animal alphabet, finish off the first little cross stitch I'm doing, UPDATE MY BLOG... but I get too easily distracted!<br />
<br />
I'm nearly finished one of those things though! The little cross stitch I'm doing! HURRAH! So here's some photos...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilR2M4vDLTH-eGdSIl3h41Vh65nIWn_Qh1r0tAfUjvPgCsQmQAmJg0aeJO29iN1Vj2pQdvQtjCO9szChUje_BFDgFazqlK8i0YWQ8gCOmAxWeXFSQi5RxcnlFRrfLUO8Z-MUHYBkrFZmY/s1600/IMG_4944.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilR2M4vDLTH-eGdSIl3h41Vh65nIWn_Qh1r0tAfUjvPgCsQmQAmJg0aeJO29iN1Vj2pQdvQtjCO9szChUje_BFDgFazqlK8i0YWQ8gCOmAxWeXFSQi5RxcnlFRrfLUO8Z-MUHYBkrFZmY/s400/IMG_4944.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">SOOO close to being done! So tonight I just need to fill in those little lines on the banner and do a little bit more sewing and then it's finished and can be sent to it's new home! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Once it's been sent on it's merry way I can start on the next cross stitch project... and it's quite a big one....</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I'd spotted these <a href="http://www.emilypeacock.com/"><b>Emily Peacock</b></a> cushions on a programme Phil and Kirsty did on Channel 4, but I didn't know that you could buy the patterns to make them yourself until I stumbled across them on t'interweb a few weeks ago. They were going to be a wedding present but I ended up having to show the bride to be and she wasn't too sure future hubby would approve... and I really should be giving them a present they both like! </div><div>A lot of what I do at work is for presentations for clients and so I'm not allowed to show you it or I'll get my fingers cut off, but here are some images I did for a report about nit shampoo whihc I'm allowed to share! Yes, I know, exciting stuff.<br />
<br />
</div><div>I was asked to draw some nits (cute ones though) in various poses and doing various things, so here's a couple of them...</div><div><br />
</div><div>It was pretty difficult to design the nits as a lot of them needed to be standing up for the poses that were required and nits have super long abdomens, but I tried my best anyway! </div><div>I drew them all in pencil first, this little guy is supposed to be "fierce nit"...</div><div><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj099OBlV3c0s_3D1RUc_G0JwIJDzVPgdYcNuM1rZor1-L76XxmCYf-Y4PXTuxh27Pvu92XfVgAcMnoE4ilxSVskc4XVeKWu92Ir7bZmp6WFokgawUGsZkF7fSZtgjrYwYU2h8Bui3_vn0/s1600/1.fierce.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj099OBlV3c0s_3D1RUc_G0JwIJDzVPgdYcNuM1rZor1-L76XxmCYf-Y4PXTuxh27Pvu92XfVgAcMnoE4ilxSVskc4XVeKWu92Ir7bZmp6WFokgawUGsZkF7fSZtgjrYwYU2h8Bui3_vn0/s320/1.fierce.jpg" width="297" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I created the image in a 2D style without linework first, which I was really pleased with, but as I had about 12 different images to produce I needed a faster way of churning them out...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">In order to speed things up a bit I drew over the images in ink and rescanned them and then used the live trace tool in illustrator then coloured the image up from underneath in photoshop. No knitting?...This 2 posts a week malarkey is proving a little difficult at the moment!<br />
<div>So far this week I've been a little too busy to do much other than work-work, and I'm currently knitting the second sleeve for my jumper so any progress photos would be pretty much the same as the first one. The last of the wool arrived for it this week though, from <a href="http://www.knitsinthecity.co.uk/"><b>Knits in the City</b></a>, so I now have everything I need!</div><div><br />
</div><div>All the bits for my top secret stitching-wedding-present project arrived on Monday from <b><a href="http://www.sewandso.co.uk/">Sew and So</a></b> so that's all ready to go too! I bought the patterns I needed on eBay and got a few extra freebies with them, so I'm working on this little fellow for a friend, I thought it'd be a nice small one to start me off...</div><div><br />
</div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRU88qFyeME3X9PwFiklUPkJXrO3gUncLl6arcSue2wHDds-XCNGChGuFXjrcpqJD-hx0jXxut32dh64c11HRxgnJb2vd_WvKklTJO4xL0kDqbrg3FauGP4q5h0TZOSnVZNKt1Wytep_s/s1600/IMG_4941.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="332" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRU88qFyeME3X9PwFiklUPkJXrO3gUncLl6arcSue2wHDds-XCNGChGuFXjrcpqJD-hx0jXxut32dh64c11HRxgnJb2vd_WvKklTJO4xL0kDqbrg3FauGP4q5h0TZOSnVZNKt1Wytep_s/s400/IMG_4941.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;"><br />
</span></div><div>Another project I have on the go is an alphabet of animals. Original, I know... It was more an exercise to give me something creative to do which had a running theme, just to keep me doing stuff.</div><div>Remember these <b><a href="http://lynseygray.blogspot.com/2010/04/more-animals.html">Woodland Animals</a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;">? Well I'm sticking to that style but using a variety of different media to create them... hand drawn, photoshop, plushie, collage, 3D model, knitted, cross stitched... and whatever else I can think of!</span></b></div><div><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;"></span></b><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;">Have been googling each letter to find some less obvious animals and to find a little more inspiration, though there are a few favourites of mine that will be obvious choices, I'm sure! Only thing is I need to do 2 per month (with 2 extra to fit in somewhere) and it's already the 19th of January, so I need to get a wriggle on!</span></b></div>Lynsey Grayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14311128703559285990noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6194181436796377693.post-45867996266001342782011-01-14T23:38:00.002+00:002011-01-19T13:33:32.797+00:00Knit-twit...<span style="font-size: 11pt;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">I’ve been knitting every night this week, and as a result I’ve finished a sleeve for my jumper! Hurrah. Now I just need another sleeve... and a front ... and a back.<br />
The rest of the wool I ordered had arrived when I got in from work I can start on the stripey bits (the front and back) as they’ll take the longest.<br />
<br />
So here’s a few photos of the sleeve...<br />
</span> </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"> </span><br />

</span></div><span style="font-size: 11pt;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"> </span><span style="font-size: 11pt;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">The pattern advises to bind off stitches at the beginning of each row to create the arm pieces, rather than decreasing, which I’m not so sure about, it looks a little messy as rather than a nice straight edge it’s stepped, I guess I’ll just see how it goes though. If the jumper fits well then I already have the wool to make another (thank you John Lewis sale!), maybe next time I’ll alter the pattern a little an try decreasing instead, will see how the seams look when I put it all together... :s</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"> </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: 11pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><br />

<span style="font-size: 11pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">And here's the finished piece...</span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: 11pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><br />

<br />
I ordered all the threads and the aida for another project today too, I found a super awesome cross stitch pattern which I’ll be using to make a wedding present... though I have 3 weddings coming up so who knows who it’s for!... well I do, but I won’t be giving it away, obviously! Does mean that I can’t really blog it though. I might do some sneaky peak photos though then post all the progress snaps when it’s all finished.</span> </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"> </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 15px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><br />

<br />
I decided that by next christmas I want to be able to knit my own christmas jumper 'cause I've never found one I like that fits (well I did this year but it wasn't meant to be).<br />
<br />
I was going to start from scratch and work my way up to knitting the jumper by working through all the basics, but I was looking through my stitch'n'bitch books and came across a pattern for a jumper that is pretty basic and I already know all the techniques needed to make it so I thought I'd give it a shot.<br />
<br />
The jumper in the pattern is made of different shades of pink which isn't really my colour, so I've decided to go for navy and white with a little bluey grey in there too. I decided to start with the sleeves first as they were smaller and I wasn't able to get enough skeins of wool in the colours I wanted so I couldn't start on the striped body, and I wanted to be sure I could make complete pieces while I wait for the rest of the wool to arrive.<br />
<br />
So here's the first photo of it having cast on and knit/purled one row, I have a little more now but will post that later...<br />
<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">As well as going on a mission for Rowan Cotton Glace and knitting this weekend I had a wonder to Brick Lane and Spitalfields market where there's a stall selling lots of printing press letters. I really want to buy some but haven't a clue what I could do with them...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This evening's plan is to do a bit more knitting and maybe make a new background for my blog, I want something that matches the new title more. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">OOH and I bought a <a href="http://www.savegocco.com/">Print Gocco</a> y'day, just waiting for it to be delivered, I'm super excited, can't wait to have a play with it! </div>Lynsey Grayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14311128703559285990noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6194181436796377693.post-88204886411958582892011-01-08T17:42:00.000+00:002011-01-08T17:42:42.882+00:00Remember this guy?...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsYUzybpRHemxb9O4LvT1CHuUNtRUdmiv1luQWqjpwcxWGH_1XylZP0BicGiTmV_kzzRcesyFwNtjAn_49I2oPHOtAIGZ62xVBr-LzxHkZ4U3GpM3C9e3yCGUnQFEANv9TTzS9MW1b7wA/s1600/OCTOWALLPAPER.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsYUzybpRHemxb9O4LvT1CHuUNtRUdmiv1luQWqjpwcxWGH_1XylZP0BicGiTmV_kzzRcesyFwNtjAn_49I2oPHOtAIGZ62xVBr-LzxHkZ4U3GpM3C9e3yCGUnQFEANv9TTzS9MW1b7wA/s320/OCTOWALLPAPER.jpg" width="232" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">...well he's back, and this time he's turquoise and is forming the new background on both my blogger and twitter... though turns out I didn't quite make it seamless as when I've tiled the background it's a little off, and I think I might have preferred to use the version with the suckers on the tentacles. oh well, it'll do for now...</div>Lynsey Grayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14311128703559285990noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6194181436796377693.post-63820772718590900562011-01-08T17:32:00.001+00:002011-01-09T11:16:15.952+00:00TWO THOUSAND AND ELEVEN...Well I said I'd keep updating my blog after college and... well... I didn't. Not very often anyway... but...<br />
<br />
New Year, New Start!<br />
<br />
So I'm making it my resolution to update my blog at least twice a week, and as I've given myself a list of projects to this year I *should* have enough to keep it up! I've got a few illustration projects (just for fun), a bunch of stuff to knit, and two lot's of bridesmaids duties which include designing a set of invitations and making two lots of wedding toppers!<br />
<br />
So for a start here's a few photos I had knocking about...<br />
<br />
My lovely ex housemate Charlotte bought me an awesome <a href="http://www.thinkgeek.com/books/scifi/dd54/">calendar</a> for Christmas; every month has a picture of a zombie which also comes flat pack with the calendar so you can build it yourself. After building the first one I realllly wanted to make another, but I'm going to be good and do each one on the first of every month. I do love a bit of paper craft...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKyz_zX65MJZ6x7t7q_LF9oVu5tCkWUz8P2kk4dO2zlR8YPQucEqkmzPJiUBCXQZ0lDhwp45CWGNX24zVK7fBNXcD9JEY1jSW3ReSbjlOJs71tkcoq9zQSG7UGnDoMDD7PElAbQbj-WZE/s1600/IMG_1874.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKyz_zX65MJZ6x7t7q_LF9oVu5tCkWUz8P2kk4dO2zlR8YPQucEqkmzPJiUBCXQZ0lDhwp45CWGNX24zVK7fBNXcD9JEY1jSW3ReSbjlOJs71tkcoq9zQSG7UGnDoMDD7PElAbQbj-WZE/s400/IMG_1874.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">One of my housemates took up knitting before Christmas, and as I'm always banging on about how awesome the <a href="http://stitchnbitch.org/">Stitch'n'Bitch</a> books are I thought I'd buy her one and put a little knitting kit together with some nice wool, bamboo needles and other useful bits and put them all in a bag, so I bought a blank canvas tote and made use of some fabric paints I bought a good while ago and sat down one afternoon to make it all look pretty! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I cut a piece of scrap cardboard to put into the bag to stretch it out and keep it flat so it was easier to work on, and to stop the paint going through onto the back, then drew on the image in pencil. I mixed the fabric paints to get the colours I wanted and then filled all the large blank areas with colour...</div><div><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4VjKQuLinLeOmLcUGz2a7QJhchGP8iXEG1W5NVLbGczZySsNg8hg3WyroSdn5RQ59JjsjymSBBBRzf_4qqD1hID6Z10W6hDruH4tRpOGKby07JySSs8c2WLLLt2UkGgG6ruvXUkd4Vhc/s1600/IMG_1774.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4VjKQuLinLeOmLcUGz2a7QJhchGP8iXEG1W5NVLbGczZySsNg8hg3WyroSdn5RQ59JjsjymSBBBRzf_4qqD1hID6Z10W6hDruH4tRpOGKby07JySSs8c2WLLLt2UkGgG6ruvXUkd4Vhc/s400/IMG_1774.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">After the first lot of paint had dried I added the writing and the detail to the balls of wool with darker shades of the same colours, then drew on the faces with a black sharpie...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Ta daaaa...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ3wu0DDc3kJcMU0wat1QniEXX47I7F5i9HxU4xAlHtr5usEjVNklqPFCI4iNkBrL7zotFyfGb4VgpsFXo1vY9QN9dEZPeJIKkaFDXj5mqM7CP-ZxuoMGRjwbGecmhrRialIvg2rssrMw/s1600/IMG_1778.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ3wu0DDc3kJcMU0wat1QniEXX47I7F5i9HxU4xAlHtr5usEjVNklqPFCI4iNkBrL7zotFyfGb4VgpsFXo1vY9QN9dEZPeJIKkaFDXj5mqM7CP-ZxuoMGRjwbGecmhrRialIvg2rssrMw/s400/IMG_1778.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I have done other stuff, honestly, it's just either not that interesting or it's work stuff... which usually is't that interesting either.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This weeks plan is to get some wool so that I can start making a jumper! Though it seems it's going to cost about £40-£45 for the wool I need for it, so hopefully I'll not only finish it but it'll fit!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I really want to buy a Print Gocco too, especially for making the wedding invitations! Maybe I should treat myself...</div>Lynsey Grayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14311128703559285990noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6194181436796377693.post-80426169454560739672010-11-17T17:14:00.000+00:002010-11-17T17:14:39.508+00:002 posts within a week!? surely not!...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>I finally had some time to myself this weekend! Hurrah! As i'd updated my laptop, and in the process lost my desktop image, I decided to draw a new one.<br />
Obviously it was going to be something with tentacles.<br />
LO AND BEHOLD!<br />
<br />
I prefer to draw stuff by hand but the lack of a scanner at the moment is forcing me to draw straight into photoshop using my tablet, but I'm getting a little better with it, though I still find it difficult to draw smooth curves. I drew him out roughly and then played around with colours. I really wanted to make him turquoise, but every time I draw a squid or octopus (or make a giant one!) it's turquoise, so I decided to try a different colour for once!...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIV8eZeo1xzmrGQHku50jNxcYuz55bAm4QdqGDBn_3xdTp4TaUFcT2j_Nwf6fNgzhPSNg_e5btx3jJMIipwXEVHxgS0ma9BAP43sPmt7Z4V64bwY75vUEgFN3UuFmR1pPbFl7UOXYJJj0/s1600/1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="262" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIV8eZeo1xzmrGQHku50jNxcYuz55bAm4QdqGDBn_3xdTp4TaUFcT2j_Nwf6fNgzhPSNg_e5btx3jJMIipwXEVHxgS0ma9BAP43sPmt7Z4V64bwY75vUEgFN3UuFmR1pPbFl7UOXYJJj0/s400/1.png" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I built him up in layers just using blocks of flat solid colour, a pinky red colour for his main body and a peachy colour for the underside of his tentacles...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYKG7IvIXhXhceBL656upQssFGOTyN2smuNCz_lezsF6TvTDrMyF3uobpwGkacW21qOjy90X3eKlBm87rIcVpqM9n4AtD1rvJG90RJXLauJ_u85BRqR66iiejgAvx5ieEMmn2xn6T5V1Q/s1600/3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="262" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYKG7IvIXhXhceBL656upQssFGOTyN2smuNCz_lezsF6TvTDrMyF3uobpwGkacW21qOjy90X3eKlBm87rIcVpqM9n4AtD1rvJG90RJXLauJ_u85BRqR66iiejgAvx5ieEMmn2xn6T5V1Q/s400/3.png" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Next step was to add shading by adding lighter areas to the octopus. This is kind of the backwards way of doing it but it's just laziness as I just used the same paths that I'd used to create the main shape and just moved them around a bit and shrunk them down...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheXOb3FUdRT-4Z-YuPC3wF0pVU8SpDao5HbI2SFZLY4t_SlUa9cIxtQ_GkluHg5PfjOrWSZTR95xIUdBLB1rWDetwnAGcx3JAm-PjDxEMsN7KD6noVJ5JCKp0W5DI6Qs3Dkr8Z7CR1Pjs/s1600/4.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="262" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheXOb3FUdRT-4Z-YuPC3wF0pVU8SpDao5HbI2SFZLY4t_SlUa9cIxtQ_GkluHg5PfjOrWSZTR95xIUdBLB1rWDetwnAGcx3JAm-PjDxEMsN7KD6noVJ5JCKp0W5DI6Qs3Dkr8Z7CR1Pjs/s400/4.png" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Once I was relatively happy with the shading I added his eye, I did this in the same way, building it up layer upon layer...</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmYuqgDWSX2IskNIS4pjZEAfEKl-hf5zH2PIo7NciGcSiuU4BREYk0kvYDQHZc55qGAG9z0teFvC7YyDKriOWLMkN1Gw00YZ8tEizcNEw-E2vJOJf3peK-6JXSis97c1t1CXi7dlnm4Vk/s1600/6.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="262" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmYuqgDWSX2IskNIS4pjZEAfEKl-hf5zH2PIo7NciGcSiuU4BREYk0kvYDQHZc55qGAG9z0teFvC7YyDKriOWLMkN1Gw00YZ8tEizcNEw-E2vJOJf3peK-6JXSis97c1t1CXi7dlnm4Vk/s400/6.png" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I don't know what I'm going to to with the background, I don't like having too much detail, so I just added a turquoise colour (I had to get it in somewhere) with a gradient on it. I might play around with some textures, maybe something like the ones I used on my final show photos/drawings. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So this is where I'm at now, I've started drawing on some suckers which I'll probably just colour free hand rather than using paths.. 'cause it's easier... I'm not sure whether I should put something else on there with him too, I like to have clear space on my desktop for files and stuff, so we'll see...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbRET5RQU15HVfhWLrvjROxOVEE7XhfyqegyL21-KyZfKXb3B6GlS6ZM_3bAUrFooTpbA9V-DBhYvVuiFzWz9jwdcPYHCTsAHlVygW1bbPmYhJOXykciKaHsURtnYrY18tM_b143GD2Yg/s1600/8.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="262" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbRET5RQU15HVfhWLrvjROxOVEE7XhfyqegyL21-KyZfKXb3B6GlS6ZM_3bAUrFooTpbA9V-DBhYvVuiFzWz9jwdcPYHCTsAHlVygW1bbPmYhJOXykciKaHsURtnYrY18tM_b143GD2Yg/s400/8.png" width="400" /></a></div>Lynsey Grayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14311128703559285990noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6194181436796377693.post-10943457433740866832010-11-11T00:02:00.002+00:002010-11-11T00:07:18.562+00:00POW!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Well, once again it's been a while since I updated! I will try and keep on top of things now that I'm getting used to my new routine! It's my fourth week at my new job this week (it's flown over!) and I've been pretty busy so haven't really had time to do anything creative for myself, let alone post it on here!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The new job is going ok though, I've still got a LOT to learn about the company, I haven't a clue what people are talking about at times, but I feel like I'm doing a lot of work and I'm even learning a few new PS tricks as I go! It's even prompted me to use twitter a bit more! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Today I got to go to CAT (link below), there are a lot of people out of the office this week doing important things in other countries so I get the impression I was a last resort so as not to waste the ticket, and to be honest I was expecting to be sat there not having a clue what was going on and not understanding what anyone was talking about, but it was a great day with some awesome speakers and some mega interesting stuff so I'm chuffed I got to go, last resort or not!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">http://creativitycat.com/index.php</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The highlights of the day:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><b>Stewart Smith</b> - http://stewd.io/ - you should definitely check out his website, full of fun things he's created, he did a great video for Grandaddy which is on there too.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><b>Chris Milk</b> - http://chrismilk.sites.livebooks.com/ - this guy is genius, if you've seen the interactive Arcade Fire video then this is the guy responsible for it. If not then go here now... http://www.thewildernessdowntown.com/ </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Unfortunately it's a little limited when inputting your town, I opted for London (no Newcastle or Durham on there unsurprisingly), but the idea is amazing. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">He's also the guy responsible for this http://www.thejohnnycashproject.com/ which again is total genius, and although each frame is done by a different person, I love the idea of doing a rotoscope animation and using different media for each frame. *rubs chin*</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">As well as those guys there were a bunch of other cool folk there such as Iain Tate from Wieden+Kennedy (responsible for the Old Spice - The man your man could smell like ads! If you haven't seen them... where the hell have you been!? get yourself onto youtube and have a look, check out the twitter responses they filmed too) and Tommy Pallotta (producer of A Scanner Darkly) who talked about his new project http://www.collapsus.com/ which is a mixture of documentary, drama and gaming and looks pretty ace. A real, proper, grown-up-persons job! So now I have to start acting more like an adult... ish. The job is in London too so that means I'll also be relocating! Hopefully I'll manage to find time to do the odd creative thing in my spare time to update ye olde blog, but until then I have the bands video to finish so I'm sure I'll have lots to post!<br />
<br />
You should all check out this animation too as it's pretty freaking awesome, and was filmed on the new nokia N8 using a Cellscope...<br />

<br />
I decided to have a go at using the silicone solution I'd used to patch up the sailor boys hands, which was a mixture of clear bathroom silicone, white spirit to thin it down and oil paint to colour it. I started by filling the hole in the middle of the hand with some silicone and brushing some over the fingers to try and fill some of the gaps in the wire...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: auto;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbPnYuM1oMD0AosOUEDCdsOhkSshV9n56Qe_XPQMOnOIVAhq5HwvdFAw-wQPDr46ZxrxdC8nBfB3vlnuNJrE1G-Y0z9F1Z8Bnv-fS2uydgEGaYqT694UzC_d4wGypnCTVqm4IM-k3PpG8/s1600/IMG_1020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbPnYuM1oMD0AosOUEDCdsOhkSshV9n56Qe_XPQMOnOIVAhq5HwvdFAw-wQPDr46ZxrxdC8nBfB3vlnuNJrE1G-Y0z9F1Z8Bnv-fS2uydgEGaYqT694UzC_d4wGypnCTVqm4IM-k3PpG8/s320/IMG_1020.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Once this had dried I mixed up the solution with the oil paint...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCBbljPIIVNtQS5xpidojasrelpare8z0ZB4jOdkOd2mvEIwePKUnca_t5Zj0TmBjO0JZhDmHbZShtBr2zPDvTitn0NvkqdzA3gARbMypuxVWfx67h5lM3nSeKBiLWfIzgGlFycljXDwA/s1600/IMG_1027.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCBbljPIIVNtQS5xpidojasrelpare8z0ZB4jOdkOd2mvEIwePKUnca_t5Zj0TmBjO0JZhDmHbZShtBr2zPDvTitn0NvkqdzA3gARbMypuxVWfx67h5lM3nSeKBiLWfIzgGlFycljXDwA/s320/IMG_1027.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This was really difficult to work with, as you brush it on it picks up on any little bits and leaves a really messy finish. Brushing on a layer at a time was talking forever, and when I would put a thick layer on to try and fill in the gaps between the twisted wire on the fingers, once it had dried it would shrink a little so still looked messy. This wasn't how I wanted the hands to look, I was hoping for a much neater finish and it was taking forever, so I decided to abandon this idea...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik5wJQkwwfCiLvnMr9wIKcFUx-Y0APq5M8kzfbaYUxbMKGqyKH0MG3_z5a28NWc8spdPyOHeS9NnQlI6fDKmuzzi_-grAGqfGu2AFL9o_rI-fXYUh-cwm8JwN5Bd4iBJ4OhC9V8o6sYg8/s1600/IMG_1031.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik5wJQkwwfCiLvnMr9wIKcFUx-Y0APq5M8kzfbaYUxbMKGqyKH0MG3_z5a28NWc8spdPyOHeS9NnQlI6fDKmuzzi_-grAGqfGu2AFL9o_rI-fXYUh-cwm8JwN5Bd4iBJ4OhC9V8o6sYg8/s320/IMG_1031.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Luckily my lovely friend Alex had recently moved house and during the move came across some liquid latex which she kindly donated to me! I forgot I had it but thought that it would be worth a shot and it's something I had used before so I had a better idea of the problems I might encounter. I stripped off the silicone from the fingers, leaving the silicone in the middle of the hand to plug the hole in the wire, and started dipping the hands in the latex. Straight away I had a much better finish. When I made the granny model I wrapped the fingers to try and smooth them out so that I could get a smooth finish, but this made them difficult to bend. This time there was nothing on the wire, but the latex fills the gaps easily and builds up quickly, it can be dried with a hairdryer to the point where it's ready to be dipped again in a few minutes making it a much quicker process too. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Once the hand was starting to get built up I waited until the latex had dried thoroughly and then painted the hands with acrylic paint. Once the paint was dry I dipped the hands again a few more times in latex to seal the paint...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHz-kt19KcQ-Xnugz8IaBjtMemmZ76WSPgUNhpoaq4oBqhyphenhyphenRSOAdW5uZswImZ4v6r06q_izyoPgHtY1SMCe3dF0gsnqQKbjPse-9DQX56WM6J4PbwEdvl0PCL69CPj7E5BEx6oIeYl1OI/s1600/IMG_1044.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHz-kt19KcQ-Xnugz8IaBjtMemmZ76WSPgUNhpoaq4oBqhyphenhyphenRSOAdW5uZswImZ4v6r06q_izyoPgHtY1SMCe3dF0gsnqQKbjPse-9DQX56WM6J4PbwEdvl0PCL69CPj7E5BEx6oIeYl1OI/s320/IMG_1044.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I'm a lot happier with this finish than I was with the silicone. I think this is about as good as the hands could get without managing to make a great mould and casting them in silicone... which didn't work so well the last time I tried! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So that's the bodies up to date, next the heads...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">To create the lion masks on the two main characters I built the shape up bit by bit. Having already created the shape around the face of the character I added to this creating the lower part of the face; the mouth and below the nose, then put it in the oven to harden...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE2YtOCByKs0qZ6Sl1URtNWVh9awQ8DIV2XDEol4GIqbo4qYA4qLgHfWgZw7T-M3RL5KqLNaQweZIwKvJKrnxwIw2fJpyBU5e0gVMKkdx5EGKxf5hLMOrxtvCaL1PS2ThnbrRLwngAU2c/s1600/IMG_10122.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE2YtOCByKs0qZ6Sl1URtNWVh9awQ8DIV2XDEol4GIqbo4qYA4qLgHfWgZw7T-M3RL5KqLNaQweZIwKvJKrnxwIw2fJpyBU5e0gVMKkdx5EGKxf5hLMOrxtvCaL1PS2ThnbrRLwngAU2c/s320/IMG_10122.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Once cooled I started to add to the top part of the lion head, creating the length of the nose and the brow...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFLhS3i6KCNcj_8PH32od6WWuuOt5dFj7UEMD3hdj8YcaNAfUhW3Bw8AljPMntfxHNzfyAro6jwbfHya-hXNWQajv7rWuk3rQ5PIDMeK6LKNPCoMYU6o92AXPFNRDHuyNu4o6qEHkxons/s1600/IMG_1016.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFLhS3i6KCNcj_8PH32od6WWuuOt5dFj7UEMD3hdj8YcaNAfUhW3Bw8AljPMntfxHNzfyAro6jwbfHya-hXNWQajv7rWuk3rQ5PIDMeK6LKNPCoMYU6o92AXPFNRDHuyNu4o6qEHkxons/s320/IMG_1016.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The band were ready to paint. I first painted them with acrylic paint but the finish was awful! So, annoyingly, I had to peel it all off and start again, it was difficult to remove in some corners though which were left a little messy looking. I started again using a very watered down acrylic paint and built it up in about 7 or 8 layers, allowing it to dry between each coat...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQoqJV0Cpm35RPyd5SdiOcTiu24ch1QglOGGQG6jMyyjfRWXQPwB-PRQ8dvmlBk5rucGA6y7vHsxjKTwCp_dbXECzHbveWTrwjYLsewgafe-BjorZlYrV_7xEQJ2oNBYEiUnI8rFQS1C8/s1600/IMG_1033.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQoqJV0Cpm35RPyd5SdiOcTiu24ch1QglOGGQG6jMyyjfRWXQPwB-PRQ8dvmlBk5rucGA6y7vHsxjKTwCp_dbXECzHbveWTrwjYLsewgafe-BjorZlYrV_7xEQJ2oNBYEiUnI8rFQS1C8/s320/IMG_1033.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I painted the faces of the two main characters the same way and painted the lion masks using a very watered down acrylic paint and again building it up very slowly layer by layer, and painted the hair on the bands models...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUJleWc9g2uKeZSgRAPLxymAEcxInjKlM1GKrsX74C6-dokdJ44nK5GrSg9bp2YjD9UWia75o1qJmjIhGgrs6iIf3FnafcbgeirxTO-vpWud1UePm2XwafFETBA15Anp2aLUjwM-wkFxM/s1600/IMG_1038.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUJleWc9g2uKeZSgRAPLxymAEcxInjKlM1GKrsX74C6-dokdJ44nK5GrSg9bp2YjD9UWia75o1qJmjIhGgrs6iIf3FnafcbgeirxTO-vpWud1UePm2XwafFETBA15Anp2aLUjwM-wkFxM/s320/IMG_1038.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Once all the paint was dry I started to add some detail. For the lions masks I added some shading in a darker tone to the arches of the brows, painted on a brown lip line around the mouths and painted in the nose etc. For the band I painted the hair a flat colour and then dry brushed over it using a lighter tone.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Next step will be to paint some patterns onto the lion masks and add the eyes and then start glueing on the mane, add some rosy cheeks to the girl character, and possibly make some teeth for the lion mouths to glue on. I also want to paint more detail onto the bands hair, particularly the one on the right as there wasn't enough texture for the dry brushing. There are a few bits that need tidied up too around the hairlines and the mouths of the lion masks, just to give them a tidier finish...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgf1hB7HWyjovKOFPwa7suLTye1vWpNFOP9RkDobcrlRFDpggl_KpSi_nz8ONsJHh3ZUKaixqBL4ApxqpySnx7kF-AaqEUI2ZvAD6XuNov35dDd90mBq9o18clKJJvxae2H9_RR6DYwSUI/s1600/IMG_1042.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgf1hB7HWyjovKOFPwa7suLTye1vWpNFOP9RkDobcrlRFDpggl_KpSi_nz8ONsJHh3ZUKaixqBL4ApxqpySnx7kF-AaqEUI2ZvAD6XuNov35dDd90mBq9o18clKJJvxae2H9_RR6DYwSUI/s320/IMG_1042.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I've also started cutting out the patterns for the trousers for the 4 male characters and they SHOULD be pretty straight forward, it's the shirts etc that will cause the issues. Also a change in the way I've built the models means that I can't have the female in a dress now as her arms and legs will need to be covered so I need to come up with a new design for her outfit :( ho hum, I'm sure I'll come up with something!</div>Lynsey Grayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14311128703559285990noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6194181436796377693.post-40233346411360319122010-08-16T13:57:00.000+01:002010-08-16T13:57:24.372+01:00Little shop of horrors...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
I started this picture when I was down in London a couple of months ago, but once I got back it was a little neglected... well, a lot neglected... I hadn't so much as looked at it. I've been ill the last few days so decided to work on it a little.<br />
<br />
I wasn't happy with the male character so I decided to redraw him, fortunately I started by redoing his head and once I was a bit happier with that I kept the body as it was, so this is how he looked before hand...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhX0rctgPuTpGYeOnPGZzq6fEELaYHap4wgxliiTgG3p7h58A-8jx5xH99lfu3HWrcMBksBMy2MbyTBFYqB8ARKFTXsxhMEUnV2DSNtqwIjaeanI1WAe3FaQIukMWqKVeL0ZCzDyzDu-RA/s1600/Picture+2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhX0rctgPuTpGYeOnPGZzq6fEELaYHap4wgxliiTgG3p7h58A-8jx5xH99lfu3HWrcMBksBMy2MbyTBFYqB8ARKFTXsxhMEUnV2DSNtqwIjaeanI1WAe3FaQIukMWqKVeL0ZCzDyzDu-RA/s320/Picture+2.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">...and here he is after I redrew his head...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
